Coordination: Prof. Hans-Ulrich Prokosch (Erlangen)
The aim of this project is to develop a harmonized IT concept for the exchange of data of German biobanks, at both national and European level.
- First, an overview of the biomaterial banks in Germany and their IT structures will be created. It will be based on the existing German Biobank Registry.
- This is followed by a general conceptualization of potential data flows, a decision to be established for the GBN IT infrastructure, formal descriptions of these and alternative structures, performance specifications, and the first steps towards a prototype. The aim of the concept is to be implemented to achieve the greatest possible consensus of all biobanks involved in this project.
Parallel to the IT concept at the German level, which also takes into account data protection and security, networking at European level will be further developed. A concept, which includes technical specification, for a legally compliant and efficient interface between the German (GBN) and European (BBMRI ERIC) infrastructure is developed.
