ELSI

Neue Technologien verändern das Biobanking in den nächsten Jahren grundlegend.

Das wirft viele ethische, rechtliche und soziale Fragen auf, die im Dialog mit Wissenschaftler*innen, Patient*innen, Datenschützer*innen und der Öffentlichkeit gelöst werden müssen.


Biobanken stehen vor der Herausforderung, die Interessen der medizinischen Forschung und die Forschungsfreiheit der Wissenschaft mit den Rechten und Interessen von Bioprobenspender*innen in Einklang zu bringen. Fragen der Privatsphäre und des Datenschutzes der Spender*innen oder der Umgang mit Zusatzfunden müssen unter ethischen Gesichtspunkten abgewogen und in die Governance von Biobanken integiert werden. Die Abkürzung ELSI steht für „Ethical, Legal, and Social Issues“, also für ethische, rechtliche und soziale Fragestellungen.

Ziele im Bereich ELSI:

  • Rechtliche und ethische Aspekte bzw. Fragestellungen identifizieren, bei denen Handlungsbedarf besteht
  • Bedarf für Anpassungen von Datenschutzkonzepten und weit gefassten Patienteneinwilligungen (Broad Consent) in der German Biobank Alliance (GBA) ermitteln, auch vor dem Hintergrund der EU-Datenschutzgrundverordnung (EU-DSGVO)
  • Bestehende Datenschutz- und Einwilligungskonzepte von Biobanken in Deutschland in Kooperation mit Partnerinitiativen (DZG, NAKO, MII) erweitern und harmonisieren

Call for abstracts

The call for abstracts has now opened and the submission deadline for those wanting to be eligible for a travel fellowship and/or if you would like to submit an oral presentation is Wednesday, April 22, 2024. More information can be found here.
