The German Biobank Directory is a centralised list of biobanks and their collections which allows scientists to find suitable human biosamples and data for research projects. At the same time, it helps the registered biobanks to improve their visibility. The German Biobank Directory forms a section of the BBMRI-ERIC directory which enables a European-wide search among biobanks of BBMRI-ERIC member states. The BBMRI-ERIC directory was set up by the Common Service IT in cooperation with the national nodes, including the German Biobank Node (GBN). GBN encourages all German biobanks to register in the directory.
